Current price is $179, but going to wait until midnight to see if it goes lower durin prime days. But I'm open to other suggestions in this price range and available on amazon, so I can get it in a few days.

Good point about Prime day. I'm looking for an AX3200 router to run
OpenWRT on, might be some worthwhile routers on sale during Prime Day.

I'm a HUGE amazon shopper. prime day is bullshit. usually they raise the prices before prime and drop it. there are exceptions.

However, amazon is not making the numbers that it used to make. people are not spending as much as they were in the last 3 years. it's possible there will be some deals. probably in houseware and not electronics

a good browser addon for tracking amazon prices is keepa.

The reality is that I buy most of my routers at thrift shops for $5-$10
and throw OpenWRT or DD-WRT on them. The combination of an appliance
router and WRT firmware makes for a capable little router.

I have a Netgear R6400 and R8000 now, but I'm looking to get higher
speed internet service and want something with a little more processing
    power to handle it.

okay that's a good way to get failing hardware.

Although I'm all for supproting local businesses, I'm also a big Amazon shopper. I have a Prime memebrship mainly for the free 2-day shipping; I rarely watch content on Amazon's Prime streaming service.

That's true. I currently have a router that I put DD-WRT on, and it's very capable. A couple years ago, I also found out that DD-WRT lets you configure a VPN so that the router itself can connect to a VPN, and I thought that was cool.

I had also used Tomato (firmware) with my previous router, and I thought that was a pretty good router firmware too.
