That would be sort of what I had in mind. There are indeed many scenarios to imagine. Today's open culture on the internet and the Big Brother tv show/contest is conditioning a generation to think it's ok and fun to spy on other people as a form of entertainment. I guess that I am product of such a plan. I admit to have somewhat enjoyed some of those Big Brother seasons. I did not realize that the franchise is world-wide with versions in other countries too.

The book "Memoirs of an Invisible Man" by H.F Saint (1987) is an interesting modern action-packed read from the perspective of an invisible man.

This is one of those things that really confuses me.
I'm a very private person, normally. I mean I will talk about details
of my life from time to time, but the people that post constant status
updates or live stream their lives, I just can't understand that
mindset. Especially when many of those same people are the ones who
seem to attract so much unwanted attention by stalkers, yet seemed
surprised by that fact.

Regarding the people that constantly post.. isn't there a monetary component to some of those depending on the platform? For Youtube, I think it's about $5 per 1000 views, with a minimum payout of $100. To reach 20,000 views (for the minimum payout) would sound relatively easy in this world-wide internet age.

I could have garnished my first $100 for this little sampler I created: https://youtu.be/AENmsEVltcQ ..but that was 11 years ago. LOL

There is probably also an element of validation going on to feel important. Maybe even some people are hoping "to be discovered" by some entertainment mogul and attain greater celeb status.

I've read about monetization of social media sites. I'm not sure how it happens, it's not a thing for me. I mean not something I would be interested in.

I have posted a couple of videos on YouTube about 6 years ago. One of my granddaughter's 7-8 birthday. She loves singing and performing for an audience. I rescued some wooden shipping crates from my job that were being thrown away and made a small stage. A neighbor was a guitar player and had a decent sound system, so we set up for her to give a concert. I recorded them on my phone and put them on Youtube for family and friends to see who couldn't be there. She enjoyed herself, so it was worth it.

That's as far as I would ever go in the "I want to be famous" category, other than wishing I could have better mixed the audio on it.

Yes. The I want yo be famous syndrome. I can't get into that mindset.

That's like these folks on Facebook, detailing their bowel and
bladder habits, as well as their sex life.

Years ago, people would talk about their bowels and bladder, and
not say a word about sex. Now, it's the other way around.
