Salads are the ultimate freestyle meal, for they can be made from any
combination of fresh, cooked, or marinated vegetables. For the
beginning chef, salads are a great introduction to the art of culinary
experimentation--there's no risk of burning or overcooking, (Just
don't surprise anyone with raw, hot chili peppers). Make the salad a
group project by having a few people chop vegetables--everyone loves
to nibble and it speeds up the salad production. Try tossing any of
the above ingredients for a crunchy accompaniment to any one pot meal.
