MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

Title: Xxcarol's Sashimi Delight - Aku Or Ahi
    Categories: Japanese, Seafood, Xxcarol
    Yield: 4 Servings

1 lb Aku or ahi (tuna)
    1/2 c Worstershire sauce (brown)
    1/2 c Shoyu (soy sauce)
    1/4 ts Wasabi powder

Now this is a simple and delicious mainstay in my home. What you need
is really *fresh* fish. To tell if it is fresh enough, sniff it and
if it smells more than faintly fishy, its too old for this dish. Make
blackened fish of it in that case.

What to do? Chop up that fish pretty and bite sized. Its also called
Yellowfin or skipjack tuna. Keep it in an airtight container until
just before serving, then add the sauce in dipping bowls to the side
    of the fish.

Goes perfectly with short or medium grain 'sticky rice' (regular rice
made to not be fluffy, but stick together so easier eaten with
chopsticks) and plain vegetables such as green beans, Bok Choy
cabbage, or sliced fresh cucumber pieces. Add a few rice crackers and
    all is set.

For dessert, consider slices of pear or fresh peach.

Nutritional notes: High in sodium due to the sauces, but low in fat
    and calories. Suitable for diabetics.

    MMMMM

Grin, we still do that. I can get fresh enough Tuna for it a Harris Teeters. It's frozen on the bot then commercially frozen to kill paracites.

Interesting detail that the fish is frozen, and then frozen.

My brother spent a significant amount of time living in Japan, and he
preferred to eat fish that had not been frozen. I only know of one
place in the state to get sashimi like that, and i don't know for sure
whether it is still in business.

By the way, what does the Xx in Xxcarol stand for?

Yup, supposedly mandated for at least some types due to paracitic infestations.

LOL, xx comes from Arpanet where I was a military systems sysop. Us bored watchstanders would chat world-wide. We only had a 60 character chat line so to save space, tradition was to us your initials. Problem, Charlie Parker had mine (before I got married). So used xx for female chromosomes. Funny is happened to a guy so he got called xy (male chromosomes).

As home computing kicked off with fidonet, we'd find one another for years because we kept it up in sig lines on our bbses.

Today, it mostly separates me from all the other 'carol's' out there. Sorry it's so mundane (grin)

That was one of my guesses! That it stood for XX chromosomes. I had no idea about the history. Wow, a 60 character chat line. That's 100 characters shorter than the old SMS message size limit. Hardcore!

It's Xtra Xtra down to earth. :-)

Yeah, funny but life works out so as you gain stories, you always have something interesting or quirky. Lord knows I'm quirky and happy to be so!

Meantime, dinner chopped up and fast cooking so waiting on Don to come home in about 30 minutes.

    7 cloves garlic, sliced small
7oz Keilbasa sliced about 1/3 inch thick
2 stalks mature bok choy, sliced about 1/3 inch thick
    Olive oil, pribably 2 TB
sliced Cremeni mushrooms, probably add 4 oz but haven't yet

Leftover savory macaroni salad with sticks of fake lobster as a garnish.

I need to upload the picture of last night's dinner for the mac salad but maybe I;ll just snap one of tonights!
