I've not looked into this recently, does it support JAM yet? I'm looking for something to switch from IREX and gecho/fastecho.

No, D'Bridge still only supports Hudson (QuickBBS) Message Base, GoldBase (the expanded version of HMB in the more recent versions of QuickBBS) or Fido *.MSG.

    As per Andrew, not yet.

The code to support JAM is about 90% complete but needs extensive testing before I'm confident to release it.

It is an unbelievable huge royal pain to add Just Another Mess.

If and when the JAM version is released, a special pop-up will appear asking you to please enter the UPS tracking code for the case of beer I expect to be sent for doing this. ;)

So why do it? Probably no-one will ever use it...

It appears there is interest in the BBS community; otherwise the question would not have been asked. I know that I wouldn't mind testing it as a means of avoiding the known bugs in FastEcho that probably will never be fixed.

My view on this ... such message-bases came into existence in the days of limited disc-space to save space.

Those days are gone and while *.msg generates overhead ... who cares ... ?
I never understood why anyone want a storage system which could collapse and make'm lose the entire message base instead of just 1 or 2 messages...

To me it's a case of measuring penises.

For a time I was getting Netmails from at least a dozen Sysops about it, mostly Mystic Sysops who wanted a "real mailer" over what comes out of the box with that software.

It started off very straightforward but the 10% that is missing is the code for the D'Bridge editor when it comes to editing/changing/moving messages, etc.... things that are not exactly straightforward as it seems a record in a database must be deleted, along with its indexes then created again.... all the threading and linking must match perfectly...... kludge-lines stored seperately for some inexplicable JoHo-disciple reason.... Just A Mess.

I must be very careful what I say because there are at least two Professors
who may chime-in and ask me why I just don't use an API or library unit to do this, as if I just got my Pascal compiler yesterday.

As sure as I am that someone will need to completely gut the RG code to redo personal mail, purging/packing bases, editing/changing a message... etc.
