Welcome back to those Fidonet members that were affected by
Hurricane Florence... Hurricane Florence's effects are still
being felt in some areas as possibly another Hurricane may form
shortly.. Nov. 30 is the eh... end of Hurricane season in
    these parts :(

Outside of Hurricanes, there are still members 'out' as far as
their connection to Fidonet goes, like Bill McGarrity. In
Bill's case, it wasn't the Hurricane that blew away his internet
lines... IIRC, a road crew plowed through an internet cable
over that way... and sometimes, it is even more amazing to me
that after all of these various and sundry reasons to 'not
connect' that we still pull together as a group or 'family'
called Fidonet to connect with each other every day :)

you again Rob, for sending this in.

Excellent read. After things settle down here a bit (today's my first
day back online in over a month, after a move back home, plus dealing
with the finances surrounding getting my Mom into a nursing home, and
with modem/internet/router issues), I'll add it to one of my bulletins.

Yes, that was great of Rob to send that article over.

The one I'll add it to was one from a previous FIDOGazette, entitled
"BBS Relevance in 2017". The tagline "I BBS, but I can control it", just
came to mind, for some reason. <G>

Go for it. :) I added it to that bulletin, and renamed it to "BBS
Relevance - Why BBS??". It reminds me a of a similar multi-part bulletin
I have entitled "Want To Be A Sysop?? Read This!!". <G>

Today, you won't find many folks wanting to be Sysops, but a lot of
the items noted bring back memories. The best one was an underage user
wanting access to adult files on a BBS for "a school sex education
project". The Sysops response?? "Nice try". <G>

I don't care what political persuasion or party you are for. If you
don't vote, you don't have the right to bitch about the outcome.
