And you think this IS/HAS connect info:
NodeList> Pvt,1466,Owls_Anchor,Columbia_MD,Dale_Shipp,-Unpublished-,9600,XX,MO
Sorry, but such systems are only acting as a point.
Not a crash Net reachable Node by others, no phonenumber, no IP information, wrong baudrate, no BBS as the MO flag is listed,
and no FileRequests, as shown by the XX flag are also not possible (anymore). So it does not proof any form of connectivity, not a single
one ;-(. At least the 9600 should be 300, and the XX removed.
Many *C's are not doing their job's, so the upper level should correct
it, and in the end that are the ZC's, does not matter which Zone.
The garbage is everywhere.
And Dale has been a respected contributor for years, I'd like more
people like him in the nodelist.
And Dale has been a respected contributor for years, I'd like more BF>WD> people like him in the nodelist.
So "Nodelisted Sysop" should be used as an honorary title, and the
nodelist should not be used for contact info then?
Many *C's are not doing their job's, so the upper level should correct it, and in the end that are the ZC's, does not matter which Zone.
The garbage is everywhere.
I understand your point about the XX, I seem to recall that it simply indicated the type of mailer I had which has been IM and then Argus.
BUT, I do operate a BBS with users
I don't run a server.
even though I do not accept incoming connects -- and never have done
so.
I'll send a netmail to my NC and mention that the XX should be removed
and baud rate changed to 300.
BUT, I do operate a BBS with users
So you say. But three days ago you wrote:

A BBS is a server. So what is it?
Whyeven though I do not accept incoming connects -- and never have done

What is the point of running a BBS if you do not accept incoming calls?
do I (again) get the impression that you are not telling the full story?
Something like that other honorary title "Fidonews Editor" you mean ?

Nothing much of an honour there, it's just an alias.

The last time I checked, my system is producing the Zone 1 Nodelist like clockwork.
And the last time I checked, I am not being paid a salary to do so.

Nope.

The entry is what my NC made when he assigned me a node many years ago.
Reading the nodelist today, I can see that you are right about the 300 versus 9600 ( which was the baud rate of my modem when I had one).

That does not count either. You wanted to do volunteer work, so
paymant does not matter. If you can not handle critics, something is
wrong in your head.
Systems without connect info should not be listed in a phone book,
the same as secret phonenumbers are not listed by the phone company.
The NodeList is for connecting info, not for heroes of the past.

Nope.
Why no connect info then?,
not even your IP or E-Mail adress.

That's the case for many systems, but onfortunately not updated tot the latest situation.

Yes, but it was not updated for a long time, that's the point.

Why not make the connect info public?
I'll send a netmail to my NC and mention that the XX should be

Thanks for your kind answers, I hope more sysops and *C's will update their NodeList info. It's a much better attitude then what I received
from Ward and Nick.

an excellent New Year's Resolution.

well, admittedly, back in the day, there were quite a few Z1
folks that stuck their noses into other zone's business on a
fairly regular basis... in some ways, karma is returning...
unfortunately it is being cast upon folks who weren't involved or
even around back then... things are a whole lot calmer these days
than they were...

And that the "Euro-boys" make up the vast majority of nodes
they could win any vote put to the popular vote.
Maybe us "smaller" zones (Z1,3 and so on) should shut up...

assuming you are the dan clough listed the nodelist for Illinois
back in '93, yeah, you could easily be aware of the mess that was
going in the main sysops echos on back then ;)
there are many from that period that aren't aware of the stuff
that went on... they just didn't venture into those areas... for
the most part they stayed in the areas they were interested in
and maybe their net's areas... i've met a few who knew of some
rumblings here and there but didn't know the details...

Certain Zone 1 Sysops such as my ZC1 predecessor and key members
of the NAB distribution model, at one time have been "all up" in
other zone's business. Honestly I believe that is the real reason
for some of the anti-USA rants that end up getting started here.
Now that those certain individuals are gone, dead or largely
ignored, there is a relative amount of calm after the storm.
"My country is better than yours" type of conversations usually
end up going into pointless insults. Comparisons to Hitler, Trump
sucks, Europe sucks, you suck, yes but you suck more, I know you
are but what am I, type of nonsense.
Nobody wins in the end... just my two cents.

Absolutely right. I ignore most of the stupidity, but sometimes
can't resist poking them a little. Several are on my "ignore"
list already.

You have written me many love letters here and obsess about me so much, desperately clinging onto my every word just because I occupy the 1:1/0 address. If you're going to venture into gay joke territory, your apparent nodelist-fetish somewhat stack the deck against you.
Speaking of nodelists - Hows your Sysop Node-number Probation Periodgoing?
Did you finally figure out how to install a mailer yet?
