Hi all,for 25 years
I'm new to Fidonet, although have been very aware of its existence
plus. It's taken me a little while to finally join you. I wasn't sureif it was
still going in any real way, and I'm excited to see so much livelydiscussion
going on across various echos.to it all!
The problem is, I could really do with some sort of beginner's guide
Terms like netmail, echomail, the node numbering system, how messagesare
passed between boards, how many echos are out there, how to become asysop of a
BBS carrying fidonet - this is all stuff I'm unsure of and would liketo learn
more about it.
The challenge is - I don't have regular access to the internet athome any more
- voluntarily reliant on dial-up so I need to work all of this outvia BBSes
themselves. I daresay sitting and lurking for long enough willeventually teach
me everything I need to know. Just wondering if there's a beginnersguide or
similar resource that you could recommend. Apologies for a ramblingpost -
which could have been just one line long!
