Hello Everybody,
The W.H.O. made it official.
The novel coronavirus is a global pandemic.
No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
"We have never before seen a pandemic sparked by a coronavirus.
And we have never before seen a pandemic that can be controlled
at the same time. ... Describing the situtation as a pandemic
does not change WHO's assessment of the threat posed by this
coronavirus. It doesn't change what WHOis doing, and it doesn't
change what countries should do."
~ WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebrayesus, 3/11/2020
And then he said the biggest whopper of the century -
"Several countries have demonstrated that this virus can be
suppressed and controlled." ~ Tedros, 3/11/2020
A pandemic is defined a the "worldwide spread" of a new disease.
The COVID-19 certainly qualified as a global pandemic long before
the WHO officially declared it so. Why did it take so long?
The news media, such as CNN, has been calling it a pandemic.
Maybe the WHO decided the only way to retain credibility would
be to also do the same, realizing it's previous description of
the novel coronavirus as being a "public health emergency of
international concern" was not cutting it.
Anyway, Ward D. can continue to bury his own head in the sand
by pretending it is nothing more than a bad case of the sniffles.
"This is unprecedented. Other than influenza, no other respiratory
virus has been tracked from emergence to continuous global spread.
The last moderately severe influenza pandemics were in 1957 and
1968; each killed more than a million people around the world.
Although we are more prepared than in the past, we are also far
more interconnected, and many more people today have chronic health
problems that make viral infections particularly dangerous."
~ Dr. Tom Frieden, former director of the CDC, 3/11/2020
