Hello Ward,
It has been announced on the news here that following the political unrest in Belarus, the leadership of that country has taken the internet down. I do not know the status of other ways of communications
I thought Fidonet was not dependent on the internet.
If someone entertains links into R45 and doesn't get through, this may be the reason why.
Why should it be the reason why? Certainly Fidonet is not so
dependent on one means, and one means only, to distribute its
information. Or is it?
Fidonet had its own internal "war" a few years ago. A faction
of Fidonet sysops acting against their own best interests. That
did not go well. What Fidonet needs is all sysops to stand with
each other, rejecting efforts to limit distribution.
Oh, well. Not my problem. All praise and glory to whoever the
dictator of the moment is in Belarus. He'll get his way as long
as he remains dictator. And then the next dictator will come and
have his way. And then the next, and the next, and the next ...
