That's a slackpkg thing that can catch folks unaware. It might be a good idea to blacklist slackpkg and update it manually. Whenever slackpkg is updated the update process will stop and you need to check your slackpkg config and restart the update process.

In my own case when slackpkg was updated it depended on glibc 2.33 which hadn't been downloaded or installed and slackpkg would not run so I had to grab 3 glibc packages from the mirror and upgrade those packages with upgradepkg. Once I did that and checked my slackpkg.conf the upgrade proceeded as expected.

I mostly use the DVD if I have it, I don't have an upto date DVD of slcakware-current but I will when 15.0 is released.

The upgrade doc is still for 14.2. Slackware-current is bleeding edge so it has to be handled with care.

Slackware has no idea about dependencies, slackpkg just updates packages as it sees them.

Yes. I think 15.0's libc is updated now so smooth sailing from here. I hope!

How so? I've never used slackpkg and have never heard of revdep-rebuild before now. Personally I prefer slackware pkg format to deb, rpm, whatever, given that it requires no additional tools to deal with it. tar and xz these days is all it takes, although mc for browsing tarballs is a nice touch.

I seem to be missing libsigsegv which should be no problem to add into the mix. https://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/libsigsegv/libsigsegv-2.13.tar.gz looks to be the latest and greatest. Other than that I don't see any issues.

Nope. I briefly used an aarch64 version of gentoo to build an aarch64-unknown-linux-gnu toolchain about a year or two ago. That saved me from having to do a crosscompile just to create a half-decent pure 64-bit native development platform for raspberrypi. I might pick that up again in the near future.

If you get a total broken Slackware install you can just boot a install DVD, force an upgrade on the broken system, and then rebuild all your "extras" with sbotools quite easily.

And it will take less time than rebuilding half your @world.

i give up with slackware

if i reboot it, it wont succesfully boot again, so i dont do it
