    It turns out port 8080 wasn't liked I switched to 999 and it works fine.
    Sorry for the flood. Hopefully this will help someone, but I doubt it.

    That one is listed in /etc/services as known port and could have a default configuration adjusted to that service.

    I had a proxy locally for ftelnet. It ran on port 8080. Pfsense didn't like that and didn't give any errors, it just stopped working. I switched it to a different port and it started working again.
