    Hallo Benny!

    CPM is simplier

Which compiler did you plan to use to get x265 working on there?

and its not running with arch secureity risks

    It isn't running at all.

    Hallo Benny!

    It isn't running at all.

    like gentoo ?

That I wouldn't know other than I've had far too many issues with systemd in the past to look at anything where that is the default. Get rid of that and perhaps that will get it running again ?

As for framebuffer penguins on bootup I've managed to get them working using 4.19.x kernels on intel based graphics. So far none of the 5.x kernels have worked other than on the ast based system where I get 8 penguins. Mind you I haven't tried 5.6 yet. Probably tomorrow.

systemd is default disabled on gentoo, so its completly optional, so yes i keep
    it default disabled

As for framebuffer penguins on bootup I've managed to get them working using 4.19.x kernels on intel based graphics.

reason i installed it was a windows friend showing 5.6 with som nice things with nvidia graphics opensource support, it does not happend each day, i can give link to it if i can find it again :)

So far none of the 5.x
kernels have worked other than on the ast based system where I get 8 penguins.

i can not get 8 penguins on my huawei p30 pro, does that mean its a bad phone ?
    :)

but pkg upgrade works in a shell and openssh works aswell, and lastly mc do nice colors aswell, hehe

Mind you I haven't tried 5.6 yet. Probably tomorrow.

    good plan

I didn't know that. I might have to check that out someday.

I've read about that. However out of all my current machines only one has an x16 pcie slot and I don't much care for the power requirements for those particular graphics cards. Also if I were to populate that interface I would prefer a 4 slot nvme adapter over a graphics card.

i can not get 8 penguins on my huawei p30 pro, does that mean its
    a bad phone ? :)

    Yes. :::evil grin:::

Would 8 penguins fit on the display?

but pkg upgrade works in a shell and openssh works aswell, and
lastly mc do nice colors aswell, hehe

I'd like to see that, not that it would interest me enough to actually buy one.
I have a neighbour who might given he cannot live without mc and owns and uses
a smartphone. I've heard the camera on there is reported to be the best there is.

Mind you I haven't tried 5.6 yet. Probably tomorrow.

    good plan

-={ cut n' paste from remote machine starts }=-
    # cat /proc/version

-={ cut n' paste from remote machine ends }=-

It is worth noting that the above kernel is booting from an nvme disk mounted in a usb 3.1 external case. No penguins yet but I am still working on it. As is it is absolutely fantastic. :-)

i think 5.6 was more or less maked to have all kinds of graphic card software changed to the better, not just nvidia, atleast i hope

4 slot usb would not help ?

    Yes. :::evil grin:::

na i begin to see less needs for preinstalled google now even on p30 pro

hopefully this preinstalls will be banned soon

Would 8 penguins fit on the display?

    what display ?

i have hdmi on the phone that activate AFTER boot screen framebuffering, if its
    even enabled

I'd like to see that, not that it would interest me enough to actually buy one.

it means you could compile with gcc on it, its imho a pkg :)

its just a shame all is loosed if one uninstall the android app :<

I have a neighbour who might given he cannot live without mc

how old is ?, kids could learn more with it :)

and owns and uses a smartphone.

we all do, and ones that say never intrested them is lying :)

p40 have better camara, even without google :)

added gentoo proc .config ? :)

gcc 9.3 is still holding as unstable here

you have to make usb mounted before starting framebufffering imho

No it isn't. According to https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Hardware_detection, "There is a kernel configuration option called CONFIG_GENTOO_LINUX only present
in sys-kernel/gentoo-sources and other Kernel Project maintained kernels." The
source I have comes from kernel.org and does not show any of the special CONFIG_GENTOO config options.

i think 5.6 was more or less maked to have all kinds of graphic
card software changed to the better, not just nvidia, atleast i
    hope

So far I am either missing something or the intel 915 needs more work. The AST
based graphics works fine in both 4.x and 5.x kernels which is the one that gives me 8 penguins. I don't ever plan to put a graphics card on there despite
it having issues playing video files other than older mpeg's and the such. Speaking of which I tried using ffmpeg's builtin h265 (libx265) and that works except the resulting h265 is HUGE. It played fine with mplayer using the fbdev2 on the console. ;-)

we all do, and ones that say never intrested them is lying :)

No I am not lying. I've never owned a cellphone either. I have used radio and
satellite phones way back when but have never owned either of those. As we speak I do have a landline which is mostly an annoyance.

added gentoo proc .config ? :)

Nope. I might look at slackware's 5.x config first to see if I missed something in mine. I booted a slackware live on usb and they are using a 5.x kernel on there that gives me penguins on the inteldrmfb. Given that slackware
uses the same kernel source that I am I figure I am missing something in my kernel config wrt inteldrmfb graphics.

you have to make usb mounted before starting framebufffering imho

Yes. It loads the inteldrmfb just fine but no penguins ... yet. Also I have penguins on a 4.19.x kernel using inteldrmfb but haven't tried that on a usb boot yet. One step at a time.

    Stay well.
