?Speaker for the Dead? is one of my all time favorite books. I liked the rest of the series of course, but none came close to the impact that made on me.
I started this echo with LitRPG in mind, but nothing wrong with chatting about other sci-fi/fantasy.
You could almost think of LitRPG to mean "Lit & RPG writing?" :-) Apart from general chat echos: CHAT, COFFEE_KLATSCH, there really isn't any book-specific echo.
I really hope that the general art of reading complete books isn't lost among the computer-user demographic.

I was chatting to my middle daughter earlier, and she had a bit of an epiphany; when someone asked her why she only reads online stuff and not ?real books? she said ?they?re too short?. It?s true.
?Wandering Inn? it?s a bit of an outlier on the large side (what?s it, around 10 million words now) but your average small online serial sits at around 300k words which is what a printed series would be.--- SBBSecho 3.14-Linux

She could always ask a knowledgeable librarian or bookseller for the mega versions.
Just off the top of my head there's:
- Midnight Sun, Meyer
- Court of Silver Flames, Maas
- Lord of the Rings trilogy, Tolkien
- Stand/It, King
- A Song of Ice & Fire series, Martin
- Wheel of Time series, Jordan
- Dune series, Herbert
- anything by Wilbur Smith
- the Flavia de Luce mysteries, Bradley
- the various series by Guy Gavriel Kay
Oh..so the typical novel is too short?

Just FYI, She's read just over 1600 books in the last two years. She's fifteen. None of those books are in print. I have a fairly large proportion of the books you've mentioned in print on my bookshelf. She's not interested.

That's roughly 2 books a day. That's a spead-reader for sure!
I've never mastered spead-reading.. it's generally the same
speed at which a person talks - or at the typical speed of an
audiobook narration.
Does she use a proper ereader (w/e-paper) ? ..or is the
prefered device something else?
When you say that, do you mean "only available in ebook
format"? ..because an ebook would still be considered in
print. ;)
I think there is a lot to be said for books in physical print
to be of higher quality if they are backed by a major
publisher. In those cases, an ebook version is just a 2ndary
option next to an audio version.
The hottest series that teen girls are lapping up right now is
the "Shadow and Bone" series (Bardugo), "King of Scars duology" (Bardugo), and "Court of Thorns" series (Maas).

Hiya! It?s a new genre for me. I generally read fantasy and sci fi series. I like to get lost in a world. So I?m up for recommendations. I?ve read Enders Game which I think was an early version of this genre? And tad Williams Otherworld, but I don?t think that?s the style you guys are reading ?
