• THE WITCHER: A fantasy/magic series to recommend..

    Hi All...

THE WITCHER: A fantasy/magic series to recommend..

I cheated a bit and watched the 1st two episodes of The Witcher. The books are quite readily available to me (since I operate a bookshop). The audio in the TV series was not quite up to par, so.. some of the dialog was not discernible from time to time. (What is it with these productions when they can't get the actors to articulate properly! I'm guessing that they assume people are watching this series with in-ear headphones or something.) Anyway.. I'm looking forward to immerse myself into this world of The Witcher and get the details that I am missing. There are 8 books in all:

    The Last Wish
    Blade of Destiny
    Period of Storms
    Blood of Elves
    Time of Contempt
    Rite of Passage
    The Tower of the Swallow
    The Lady of the Lake

    Ciao!

Hi. Yes I also started reading the books. Then the series came on so I stopped reading as I usually get irritated when the plots don't match. I also don't know why the actors can't speak clearly! Especially Geralt !

Hi. Yes I also started reading the books. Then the series

    when the plots don't match.

Wrong course of action! Perhaps you should have stopped
    watching the series! LOL

Usually book/film differences don't irk me. For Game of
Thrones, I turned to the books AFTER watching an episode. Yes,
some of the scenes were slightly different, but there was more
dialog and "more to the story" in the books. The scene where
the midget character kills his father sitting on the bathroom
"throne" was just as funny and intense but it had more dialog
    about the matter.

I also don't know why the actors can't speak clearly!
    Especially Geralt !

Maybe they are trying to emulate the character from the video
game version of The Witcher. Afterall, the design of the tv
series probably emerged from how someone envisioned the world
    and characters from the game.

I loved GOT the series. I thought the type casting was pretty damn good. I even bought the white walker whiskey fir the final season and drank it out of skull-shaped glasses
