What's wrong with a domestically obtained Kobo or Kindle?

    Nothing except the price

It might be wise to wait for an importer to represent it.
Dealing with returns internationally could go wrong, or badly.

Meanwhile, from further reading, it sounds like the inkPalm was
designed to LOOK like a smartphone for book readers.

Personally, I think the narrower design sucks for reading. A
newspaper column (on paper) could get away with it cuz we're
not flipping pages. But a narrow display would require too
    many constant flips; no thanks.

Wrt price, My Kobo Clara HD was $125 CDN. Free shipping.
