I think as the licenses come up for renewal, they're being replacedwith licenses that can serve as the Federal ID
At one time my SS card said "Not for ID purposes" or the like.
Yeah... it was never intended to be used for ID except for the SSA...
but, ironically, I first got my SS number when I needed it for my
college to use as my ID number for them.... :)
But my Medicare card does have it, only with a -A extension.
Those are being replaced now, by a number that has numbers and letters
and has no relation to your SSN.... supposed to be more secure.... ;)

Mine is up for renewal in January.

I got my first one when I had my first "real" job, passing papers. I started working at 13 mowing lawns but that was all cash, under the
table, going door-to-door.
The military used to have their own ID numbers (serial numbers) but I understand that was replaced with one's SSN a few years ago. Makes
sense, fewer numbers to remember.
In the Navy I was typeing things like:
NOW IS THE TIME FOR ALL MEN TO COME TO THE AID OF THEIR COUNTRY.
THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPED OVER THE LAZY DOGS BACK.
In the past 57 Years I have been beat THREE TIMES by Girls in the 8th Grade.
There is always Someone or Something that keeps Ed humble.

Ed,
In the Navy I was typeing things like:
NOW IS THE TIME FOR ALL MEN TO COME TO THE AID OF THEIR COUNTRY.
THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPED OVER THE LAZY DOGS BACK.
I remember the first one, but end of the second one was "the lazy
dog". Yet, I never took a typing course in my life...becoming a touch typist after first calling BBS's 35 years ago, and becoming a Sysop 29 years ago.
In the past 57 Years I have been beat THREE TIMES by Girls in the 8thrade.
There is always Someone or Something that keeps Ed humble.
My late wife got me fat on salted crow and humble pie. :P
Howdy! Daryl,
You might be right about the second line ending at the word DOG.
I haven't type those lines in a long time.
I think I'm repeating Myself here but here goes -
I had played with Typewriters a few times with the HAP Method -
Hunt And Peck.
After some time I was hearing all 26 letters, sent as some words or
as five letter code groups.
Then the sending speed was increased.
Could She feed You the Crow and Pie while You and Her did a do-si-do on the EV>square dance floor?

Howdy! Daryl,
Hi, Ed...
You might be right about the second line ending at the word DOG.
I haven't type those lines in a long time.
I remember "Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of
their country", and "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy
dog"...the latter, because it has every letter in the alphabet at least once.
I think I'm repeating Myself here but here goes -
Like the line in the movie "What's Up, Doc??" (Ryan O'Neil, Barbara Streisand, and an all star cast). He said "I'm not repeating myself!!
I'm not repeating myself!! Oh, God!! I'm repeating myself!!" <G>.
I had played with Typewriters a few times with the HAP Method -
Hunt And Peck.
Was that discovered by HAP-enstance?? <g,d,r>
After some time I was hearing all 26 letters, sent as some words or
as five letter code groups.
I think the nervous system damage that I got from the 2 lightning strikes, affected me copying CW. I did try a 5 WPM CW test, when it was still offered. I failed it, but if I had filled in the blanks, I might have passed it. However, it's a moot point now.
Then the sending speed was increased.
At a hamfest in the Little Rock area many years ago, they had "A CW Shootout At High Noon". Two hams tied for the top at 55 WPM!!
Could She feed You the Crow and Pie while You and Her did a do-si-do on the
square dance floor?
I'd eat between the dancing "tip"...which is a "patter call" (square dance moves only to music), then a "singing call" (square dance moves
done to a song).
While 3 hours of square dancing is equivalent to 6 miles of walking, many go out afterwards to eat and chat...including having "a banana hot fudge royale sundae"...after all, they did EARN it!! <G>
Never saw that movie. Was that one made when Movies Were Better Than Ever?
Was that discovered by HAP-enstance?? <g,d,r>
GOOD UN! +1 for U!
It has been some time since You took that 5 WPM CW Test, try it again to EV>see it You and make any sense out of what You hear.
WOW! 35 WPM sounds like a Machine Gun to Me, back when I was active on the EV>Air I was comfortable with sending/receiving 22 WPM.
Surely She licked Her fingers to get a little taste of it.
I was wondering if She Square Danced too, that's why I asked.
Back in the 1970's Me and My Wife went to a Community get together and EV>watched some older people Square Dancing and the young people doing a little EV>bit different style of dancing while the music was playing.
Everybody on the floor was having fun while We just sat and watched.
Sound Yummy to Me!
