Very true.
But that is one thing fast disappearing with FF everywhere, or chains in general. The food is the same wherever one goes. That's why I prefer
locally owned and operated places whenever possible.

operated places... We can pretty much simply ignore the chains... :)

If I'm on the road, I tend to not stop until my final destination of the
day... and then take the time to find something decent... In the case of
going up to our camp, we have an interim destination already in mind for supper.... ;) Sometimes we head there directly, sometimes we unload at
the camp first and then go out...

How far is the trip? We sometimes go to Shreveport (about 4 hrs) with the WM>parents, sister, niece and wife. We can't get there without at least 3 stops WM>for bathroom breaks.

I'm in Little Rock, and am considering driving down to Shreveport in
early August for a ham radio weekend in early August. I have to go to
Texarkana for a square dance festival in early October.

I drove to Hot Springs and back last night, for a square dance event.
It was a nice drive, since US70/270 has been widened to 4 lanes, with a
center turn lane, and a bypass around town.

But, the length of the drive gave me a murderous headache
today...plus, I was up until 3am, working on a publication (I'm the new
Editor for the Arkansas State Square Dance Federation)...so I slept in
this morning. Then, after going to Sonic for lunch (I had such a
headache, that I didn't feel like cooking), and doing a ham radio
traffic net, I crashed for 2 hours. The headache finally went away.

After a severe concussion nearly 50 years ago, I get migraines nearly
on a daily basis...especially after spending a lot of time at the
computer.

With that assortment, I guess I can understand the stops... ;)

It's just under 4 hours from home to camp with no stops... It used to
take more like 5 straight, more if with stops... back then, we used to
bring the cats, and they needed a stop somewhere... so for a while we
used to stop about halfway and get a meal... I travel better without
stops, though, so as long as there's nobody riding with me that needs to
stop, I just don't... :)
