Wouldn't work with cats, in my experience.
Whatever they were given they would turn up theirs nose, give me a "you expect me to eat that slop?" look and walk away. Then when I wasn't paying attention they gobbled it up. :)

Or, in the mountain of food, there is a tiny hole in the center of it, showing the bottom of the dish...and the cat complains you're starving
