There were several names that mixture had. I never cared for the name myself.

i won't even mention the other alcohols that were also added in addition to the grain alcohol

I think it was pretty much whatever one had on hand.
Amd people would bring their own bottle to add to it.
Heaven only knows how we weren't all alcohol poisoned at the time. :)
