headlight is out...but that will just eliminate driving in the rain or
at night...which I don't care to do anyway.

I've told this story I'm sure.
I was a poor, struggling college student and my '65 Falcon state
inspection sticker had run out and needed some minor repairs and waiting
    for my tax refund.
When the money came I was on the way to the garage where I had made an appointment, etc.
I was about a block from home when I was pulled over.
The cop asked if I knew my muffler was bad. Yes sir.
Do you that left left tyre is bald? Yes sir.
Do you know that inspection sticker is expired? Yes sir.
Well, he asked, what are you going to do about it?
I said, Officer, you may not believe this, but I am actually on the way
to the garage and mentioned the name and address.
He said he was going to let me go this time but if he caught me on the
street again with the car in that condition I was in trouble.
I went on to the garage and a few minutes later the car was up on the
rack, the mechanic taking care of the muffler and the cop drove by. I
waved at him and he back and he kept on going. :)

    Joe,

I've told this story I'm sure.

    I didn't remember it.

    LOL!!

That reminds me of the joke where the blonde gets pulled over by the
police officer. Sobbing, she said "I suppose you're going to give me a
    ticket to the policeman's ball".

When the cop replied "Policeman don't have balls"...the blonde
stopping crying, and starting grinning wryly.

When the cop realized what he had said, he put the ticket book back in
his vest, got back on his motorcycle, and drove off. <G>

He made sure your story was true, I see... :) I'm sure that there'd
been plenty of other students who'd given the same story, but it hadn't
    been true.... ;)
