It took over two and half hours!
I set my system to only do it during "inactive hours" between 2am and
8am. That way, when I'm on the BBS, or on ham radio nets, it won't pull
that crap.
Of course running a board you have to have it on 24/7.
We had a small local board years ago that was up between certain times of
the day. Of course that was during the days of dial up.
The reason I leave the modem on is that thing takes several minutes to
fully function from when its turned on till its ready. This is the only mod JM>I've had that cycles through a bunch of things before it starts working. JM>Its provided by Comcast, has a ro

Apparently there were some issues with that update

I got another mini-update the other day (the ones that take only a
few minutes and run in the background).
Don't know if its just me but things seem to move slowly after these updates.
Got a notice yesterday on the laptop about the major update and
doing that now and after 30+ minutes only 5% is downloaded.

I'm the same way.
Unless I'm going to be not using it for less than an hour, it stays
on. If more than an hour then its turned off and everything shut down (monitor, router, etc). I only have the printer turned on when I'm
using it. I know people who leave this stuff on 24/7/365. Unless one
is running a business, a board, or something that's a waste of
electricity and resources.
