I thought about that. One year I ordered a wall calendar and a desktopcalendar
1) A grumpy old piano player in the bar, with a mug of beer on the
piano, snarls "My Name Ain't Sam. And, I won't play it again".
4) A female at the church organ, saying "And, would you believe I've
never had a lesson in my life??!!"
Many organizations keep sending stuff to my Mom
One of the banks I'm in quite often has Norman Rockwell wall calendars,
which I hang in the kitchen. Other than when I turn a page I don't pay JM>attention to it.
We had a fill in organist at church I referred to as "Clinker". He would
hit a sour note sometime during the hymn. I used to wonder when he started JM>playing how long until he hit it.
Several years ago I sent a small donation to a national charity after
some disaster or other. They keep sending me "reminders" to give them more. JM>They have spent several times over what I gave them in paper and postage.
just to get the flat paper so that I can write in pencil on them...
Mine end up in a stack with the Income tax return forms and receipts...
it's part of the paperwork... :)
There was another cartoon where this female organist is holding a
shotgun, which apparently was just "fired"...and she growls "Anybody
else want to complain about my playing??!!" <G>.
I don't bother sending to the organizations. Most of the money doesn't gowhere it should.

I do actually buy one at the office supply store usually,
just to get the flat paper so that I can write in pencil on them...
When I was in parking I used a large flat calendar with large boxes
for each day.
I could put a lot in those with that room about upcoming events I
had to deal with, etc.
One January I returned to work and there was no new calendar on my
desk. My civilian boss told me about something to make a note of and
I said rather pitifully "I would if I had a calendar". A couple of morning's later there was one on the desk. :)
One time I had to buy my own.
I was in a local stationary/office supply business one day.
I asked if they had any for that year left in the large size I
wanted and was sold one for half price, since it was mid-January.
I don't know if I got it that cheap since the new year had started,
I knew the boss or once temped there briefly years before. I didn't
ask questions, I just bought it. :)

I keep my tax files in order. And they go back 50 or more years.
I want to be on the safe side in case the IRS comes around
questioning a return from 1972 or so. :)
I have a pile here in the room that is more than 20 years....
Years ago the then organist (long gone) at church was pushing a piano (on
wheels) across the dining room before some event and needed moved.
Watching her I suggested to a guy standing beside me he should help "that
poor old woman". He replied she seemed to be doing ok on her own. :)
The money I gave was to a well known organisation. Won't mention any
names but they are known for their red kettles during certain times of the JM>year.
But I know what you mean. I am still sore about one charity I sent
to after 9/11 and learned a lot of those donations from around the JM>country was used to remodel corporate offices...

I had one experience like that...the calendar started the previous
July, and went through the following December.

Was it half price? :)
Although I saw one deal at Wal-Mart...a sign noted "Was [price]" then
"Now [price]"...and the "now price" was higher!! :P
So much for "Always The Low Price". <G>

My tax files are in a cabinet. (A national five and dime closed in
the early '80s and sold all their inventory and I picked up a green
metal five drawer cabinet for like $10).
I also have cheque stubs that go back many years as well.
At one time I was simply handed my pay cheque and those stubs were
tossed in a box. The last 25 years or so they have been in a envelope
and with the first one in January I stick the stubs in there. At the
end of the year I mark that year on the front and
I did the same with personal and business letters. Those were at
first tossed in a box (later filed in the cabinet). With e-mail they
are simply saved to a CD. Never to be seen or read again
A couple of winters ago I got into a cleaning mood and weeded out
some of those.
That's to be another winter project, going to go through a lot of
stuff in there.
I used to joke about prices "Regular price $1.99, special Trinidad price,
$2.50". :)
I have noticed whenever a big box store moves in their prices are lower.
Then when the competition is gone they start to gradually edge up till they JM>are the same price as other stores.
I haven't had pay stubs for over 40 years now... when I was working for NB>pay, it was self-employment (teaching piano)....
pay, it was self-employment (teaching piano)....
My late Mom taught piano many years ago. When she tried to get me to
do lessons, I wouldn't practice. But, one day, I took it up on my own.
