MicrosoftÆs new guidelines could help it look fairer than rivals Apple and Google as elected officials consider legislation that could restrict behavior for app store operators.

The software companyÆs planned acquisition of game publisher Activision Blizzard, announced three weeks ago, would be the largest U.S. technology transaction to date.

Microsoft released the set of app store principles as a point-by-point rebuke of
its rivalsÆ policies.
