  • wget does not work

    FYI, if you are sitting at a linux prompt, and run this command:

    wget https://gitlab.synchro.net/main/sbbs/-/raw/master/install/GNUmakefile

    It will pull down a "you need to log onto gitlab" web page and save it as the makefile rather than getting the actual makefile. I got around it by right clicking the link on the wikipage and doing a save-as.

    Figured it out when make barfed on line 1, which was an html tag and not the separator it was expecting.

    I think I just figured out the problem. I used a '~' instead of a '-' in
    one of the address "nodes" there. I bet that is what did it! :)

    I was using links2 at the time. It says you can copy/paste out of the
    window but it does not seem to work... you highlight the text, copy it, and then what you paste will be the same sized blank space. :) I am probably missing a package or some subtle nuance there.

    I was in firefox where I could cut and paste when I figured out my error.
