While using umonitor on Linux, I have noticed when alphabetic keys are pressed while a node is selected, the key is added to the status line.

    i.e. I press Q

The node status line will show [Q]
What does this represent? Is it turning on a flag? are there only certain keys that have function in umonitor; while hilighting a node ?

    status line.

    i.e. I press Q

I don't think that should be happening and looking at the umonitor source code, I don't see how it would.

The node status line will show [Q]
    What does this represent?

Hitting F1 shows you help screen with the effective keys.

I did look at help and was confused when things started changing.

I'll try to record a video of me starting umonitor, and pressing keys and show the status changes.

Didn't think it should be doing anything; but then got concerned I was turning on things I didn't understand by mistaken, keystrokes.

    http://toolazy.synchro.net/images/umonitor-quiet-mode.png

This shows [Q] quiet mode being enabled. I don't now how it was enabled; but it seemed that I pressed something and it added the [Q] in the status line.

I cannot recreate the keystroke. ButI have seen [R][U] also displayed which would match up with the indicated codes you shared:

QQuiet: User on this node is in quiet mode (can't be seen by other nodes/users).
RRerun: This node will Rerun when user logs off.
UUser data update: This user's data has been modified by another node and needs to be read from disk.

    https://wiki.synchro.net/ref:node_status

Maybe they are just events occurring in the background, and I noticed
the changes; when I accidently pressed keys.

    This shows [Q] quiet mode being enabled. I don't now how it was enabled;

Check your user settings for "Amessyroom" user account:
[D] Default to Quiet Mode : Off

    but
it seemed that I pressed something and it added the [Q] in the status line.

More likely, you just have it turned on for your sysop account.
