I just did a fresh install of SBBS and am having several issues. I can't get the backbone.na file to import the message areas.
I can't get trmb.na to import it's message areas.
but most importantly, I am unable to get SCFG or
ECHOCFG to run. They open up with 2 lines of text and just sit there.
They
opened up originally, but haven't since the 1st time. BTW, it is version 3.20a

Are you running through xwindows or console or...? You really didn't
give any details to go on. Not even which OS you're using, where you
got your backbone.na, the steps you took.
There's been a lot of development over the last couple of days so you
could have grabbed your copy at a bad time, try updating, recompile and
give it another go.

I downloaded and installed it around 9am (AK time). I sent backbone.na and trmb.na from my main computer.
I did forget areas.bbs, but I wouldn't think
that shoud make a difference with inporting the message areas. I am running on an Ubuntu virtualbox VM under Ubuntu server host.
The lines I see when I try to run SCFG are:
Synchronet Configuration Utility (Linux) v3.20a Copyright 2022 Rob Swindell
Compiled master/8b1031d8d May 7 2023 09:21:11 with GCC 11.3.0
The line I see when I try to run ECHOCFG:
Synchronet Fidonet Configuration Version 3.20 Copyright 2022 Rob Swindell
Any help is appreciated

Did you try running scfg or echocfg with the '-id' option like I suggested?
Re: Re: problemI was able to get SCFG and ECHOCFG running using -id. And it will also run (sometimes) if I run it from the external programs menu after logging in.

No, I haven't. I just saw the message. I haven't even been able to get the BBS to run again since yesterday. I will try that when I get home. As far as where I sent the files to, I was able to send them to the BBS from my main computer through SynchTerm.
Greg
I was able to get SCFG and ECHOCFG running using -id. And it will also run (sometimes) if I run it from the external programs menu after logging in.

Have you experimented with the other '-i' values to see which ones work and which do not? Have you updated and recompiled the latest code from git?

I did not know there were other -i values. Where can I find that information?

Yes, I did recompile from the latest code on Wednesday.

You can type 'scfg -?' or 'echocfg -h' or see the corresponding pages on the wiki: http://wiki.synchro.net/util:scfg

And are you still having issues?
And are you still having issues?
The only issues I have nbow is that I still need to use -id (or -iA) and the nodelist hasn't been processed, but that should happen the next time tickit runs. Thanks for the help.

I asked before without answer - what OS is his built/running on?
If it's running on *nix, which I suspect, under what environment? A GUI desktop, a (ssh) terminal (if so, which one)? More information is needed.

I did reply actually.
It is running on ubuntu 22.04 GUI desktop VirtualBox
VM on Ubuntu 22.04 Server.
Re: Re: problemActually, the -id and -iA options both worked. -iA gave me the Ansi screen I was looking for. However, the nodelist is still sitting in inbound not processed.

And the none of the other '-i' option flags work (for scfg and echocfg)? They all exhibit the same behavior?
Are you running them from a command prompt in terminal, and if so, which one?

The '-ic' (curses mode) option doesn't work? I've asked a couple of times now and you haven't answered: what terminal you're using to run scfg and echocfg?
However, the nodelist is still sitting in inbound not processed.
What are "processing" are you expecting to happen with a nodelist?

I haven't tried any other -i options since I found the one I wanted to use. The processing I am expecting is for the nodelist to be moved out of the inbound directory and into a file area as other incoming files are doing. I just don't see it happening.
Also, I set up "Handler" and "HandlerArg", but
they aren't doing anything and I get the error message "Unable to parse....". I'm sure I will figure it out, but not yet.
