Is there a keygen for LORD 4.08? (I believe that's the last public LORD release?)

I found L2KEYGEN.ZIP (L2GEN.EXE) on The Titantic BBS, but it generates a single registration number whereas LORD 4.08 expects a sequence of 5 codes.

(I have a working LORD 4.02 version but haven't found the keygen for 4.08 yet)

They own the rights and are still registering it, though they sell 4.07.

I think 4.08 is still called a "beta" and not officially released.
Version 4.07 may be the last official one, but I'm not positive.

Something changed after version 4.06, that may have been when the
ownership change happened. Long ago (in the 90's), I registered LORD at version 3.55, and that reg code still works up to 4.06, but not on 4.07
or 4.08.

I'm happy with running 4.06. :-)

Thanks for the heads up about Gameport. I am (trying to) check it out now, the website is sloooow. I see an E-mail link at the bottom so I may get a chance to click on that later when the page has loaded. ;)

I am curious when was the last time anyone had a response with a LORD key - from searching online there are multiple posts of people saying they hadn't heard back, but it's not clear if that was temporary or if those people even contacted the right person or gave time for a reply etc.

In the meantime, I found a way to generate valid keys for 4.08, I didn't write a full keygen but can manually calculate them by running in a debugger.

Anyway, will see if I can contact Gameport, the $15 price point for LORD is pretty reasonable.

Which version of LORD are you running? It seems like there hasn't been a public release of a keygen for 4.07 or 4.08 (but there is a working one for earlier versions). I have heard of some cracks but also heard they may have broken other features in the game (haven't confirmed that myself).

I'll update when/if I hear back from Gameport.

I couldn't help myself, had to do it. ;) Feels a bit lazy to not write a proper keygen, but that would take some work, not sure if it's worthwhile (I can manually find keys via the debugger in a couple minutes now). If Gameport is still generating reg codes then probably not worth writing a keygen I guess.

Nice. I have 4.02 on my BBS and a few of us have been playing it and it seems to work fine also. I'm not sure what changes were made between the versions. I also haven't played enough LORD to know if I'm missing anything. (it's been fun, at least!)

Gameport is a crock. They never actually created/maintained any of those games, and wouldn't even pay Michael Preslar (the last LORD developer) to continue development while they kept taking the registration money. LORD development was finished the day they screwed him over.

I say crack 'em. CRACK 'EM ALL.

If memory serves (I was a beta tester for Preslar), 4.06 was probably the last "stable" version. 4.07 introduced a bunch of spelling/grammar errors, and some new colors of text that didn't fit as well as the former version.

Then 4.08 was supposed to be an "ansified" version, or some such, but indeed was still very much in beta. When Gameport screwed over the developer at the time, he basically told everyone what they did to him (I think it had something to do with stripping him of any of his rights, and failing to pay him what they owed him), and soon after left the BBS realm for good.

I'm sure 4.08 was leaked some time around then. :)

Truth be told, 4.06 is probably the better option, though.

Strange -- all versions I'm running are registered, but I can't see the reg number when I run LORDCFG (It wants to know if I want to change the keys). I normally have a .txt file with all my door registrations in one place - but don't see that for 4.08. I also have LORD2 registered as well. But maybe I did get different codes that I don't see because I registered Planets:TEOS / LORD 2 all together a few years ago from the new company?

Version 4.02 of LORDCFG will show the reg number that was entered, but from 4.06 on the LORDCFG interface changed and they stopped showing the reg numbers that had been entered.

I haven't looked into LORD 2 or Planets:TEOS, but for the original LORD there's serial numbers available (Courtesy of Snoop via PurpleNine by way of Dink), and for 4.07-4.08 which require BBS & Sysop name there's a kegen UNITLRD4.ZIP.

I'm not aware of any tools to find the serial # that was entered in LORD 4.06+ but I imagine it could be done somehow if there's need.

For LORD 4.07/4.08, when you enter a BBS name and Sysop name there is only one key that matches that - so if you had a valid key but lost it, the keygen would produce the same key.
