Ok, do I have a setting that's different, so I'm not getting included? :)

What version are you running Dan - build 44?
It should build the scores based on packets that flow though the HUB each time maint is run. So if you and I can message each other interBBS I'd think it would be working ok.

If possible can you capture a packet and email it to me?
my email is apamment@yandex.com

Actually this is really strange, I just made an empire on your BBS and it came through. Can you zip up your whole galactic dynasty folder so I can check out the databases too please?

It should be in your email inbox now. :)
In the Galactic Dynasty we're playing now, scores seem to grow exponentially, population increases depending on the population you
have, and so everything grows exponentially.
To try to reign in the scores a little bit my latest version adds urban planets which restrict population grown to the number of urban planets
you have. This isn't enough though, I think I need to restrict the
number of planets you can "colonize" too.
How to do that I'm not sure. Perhaps there could be a limited number of planets discovered each day and once they're colonized you can't
colonize any more that day?
At present the game will overflow when we get scores too big, so need to figure out how to keep those scores down.

Really, I'm not trying to break the game... :)
you have. This isn't enough though, I think I need to restrict the number of planets you can "colonize" too.
My only concern with that, is depending on how much money a player has coming in each turn, they may not be able to purchase food planets which may be needed.
How to do that I'm not sure. Perhaps there could be a limited number of planets discovered each day and once they're colonized you can't colonize any more that day?
I would think this number should be high enough for new players to be able to grow fairly quick. Would this number grow as the player grows, or be a constant throughout the game? I'm just curious, as my player is actually bringing in less money now, than I was a few days ago, due to the increased food and money needed each turn.
At present the game will overflow when we get scores too big, so need to figure out how to keep those scores down.
How are the scores figured? Is it based on what the player has as far as food and military? Perhaps just lowering the score per item would help to keep it in check...

Perhaps you can create some random events that happen in the universe that impact on all nodes equally, sometimes good, sometimes bad which take down the scores overall. Such events should only happen once a day IMHO
I also think when protection comes off that would assist with some nodes being pulled down as they are raided etc. But you would still end up with some growing. Perhaps the formula for scores should have some rule applied that makes the score reduced by a factor of X as the total complexity of the node increases.. so if the node has X planets, X troops etc.. dunno .. just an idea.
I do think it's a good idea we all move to a new version and move to one system we're polling etc. like 1/10
You can always buy food from the market, but you would know upfront how many planets you can buy a day and if you buy too many urban planets and not enough food planets (and can't afford food) then some of your population will (at least should) starve, keeping you at a level until
the next day.
I was thinking of having it a configurable range, such as 50-150 a day, then the actual amount is random between that range.
It would for a certain amount of time, but if the scores keep growing exponentially it won't be long until they get out of hand again.
At anyrate, we'll see how this urban planet thing works, it may suprise
me and actually solve the problem :)
