• Program (win32 or mpl) to post a message to Mystic msg base

    From stizzed@21:4/156 to All on Monday, June 17, 2019 17:07:04
    I'm looking for an app (win32 or mpl) which will post a textfile to a mystic message base. Ive tried mpost_12 but it doesnt seem to work with 1.12. It errors with 'unable to locate messagebase definitions'. I am running it from the \mystic root directory as required.

    Thanks!

    The mpost program, to my knowledge, has been depreciated. You can actually
    post a text file to the message base using mutil. I have several texts that
    get posted on a weekly/daily basis.

    Here is how you would set up a 'textpost.ini' file:

    [General]

    PostTextFiles = true

    logfile=mutil.log
    logcache=true
    loglevel=3
    logtype=0
    maxlogfiles=0
    maxlogsize=1000

    [PostTextFiles]

    totalfiles=2

    file1_name = myfile.txt
    file1_baseidx = 2
    file1_from = Sysop
    file1_to = All
    file1_subj = My subject
    file1_addr = 0:0/0
    file1_delfile = false

    file2_name = myfile.txt
    file2_baseidx = 2
    file2_from = Sysop
    file2_to = All
    file2_subj = My subject
    file2_addr = 0:0/0
    file2_delfile = false

    snip<=-

    I actually have multiple .ini files in my main Mystic directory. One for posting file announcements, bbs ads, etc. Just rename the .ini file to let
    you know what that one if for.

    Hope that helps.

    mutil has this ability built in now. Check the default mutil.ini file, under PostTextFiles.

    Just make sure the number of files you state you are going to post matches
    the number of sections below that you set up :)

    If you want to use MPL, there is the MX command which does exactly that. Posts a file to a message base.

    Signed up today -- BBS looks great! I really dig the DOOR/GAME sub menu ANSIs. I too am planning to get back into DOOR development shortly - just trying to ease my way back into it. To the point I am relearning Pascal to play around with MPL scripting to start with a few ideas swimming in my head.

    Best of luck and maybe we can coordinate later once we start focusing on some projects!

    Thanks for taking a look! I really enjoy having the ability to twist Mystic into what I want. If I had this system back in the 90s it would have been AWESOME!!

    Best of luck and maybe we can coordinate later once we start focusing on some projects!

    Count on it! I lost all of my old code back in 2000 to an apartment fire.
    As luck would have it the fella that I sold the company to in 96 has decided that he has no interest so he sent me all of the old code. He clearly has not had the misfortune of a fire. ;) With that I'm putting some of my old IGMs
    back under LORD on the board and may even get back to some IGM ideas I had. I have plenty of great ideas for mystic MPLs. I think that collaboration certainly sounds FUN!

    Sorry to hear about the fire that sucks. But least you were able to find old copies of the code. I unfortunately lost all of my old code but fortunately
    was able to retain some of the latest compiled code via posting on GeoCities for and pulling them down before that went away.

    I was young when I wrote them so I am sure I could do a much better job now
    but it would be nice to at least see what I did back in the day.

    Let me know when you get your IGMs working again and I'll check them out!

    hahahaha. Yeah. I know what you mean! I had a chuckle the other day when I found an old girlfriends phone number in some of my old code ;)

    Already there. I have Castle Colddrake under LORD 3.50 on the board right
    now. I have several others that I should have up by the end of the week. It was important for me to get Colddrake up for the opening of the board
    because it was one of my favorite projects. If you have never played it
    please check it out and let me know what you think. It is the latest compile by the guy I sold it to but I know its stable. I think he only changed it to put his name on it ;) I may recompile or find an old archive of my last Ballistic Labs release to install. There really is no reason to change it at this point, however. It was a rock solid release. I think that I even have some old independent reviews of my IGMs somewhere on the board...
