I anticipate that you and your wife are going to make Xmas ALMOST as awesome as the last... I feel for you, and new norms - but I hope this season shows you that the others in your life will continue old traditions and while you may miss Mom, that her memory and aura will still cover ya'll. :P

My daughter is all about the holidays - she already dug out her
personal Christmas tree (a little 3 foot artificial tree she gets to
put in her room and keep her friend's presents under) and invited a
friend over to decorate this weekend.

In keeping with my Scandinavian heritage, I have a bottle of Akvavit in
the freezer ready for toasting - but this year instead of a
smorgasbord, it'll be a roast, root veg, mashed potatoes and yorkshire
pudding...
