I don't get on the air that much locally. The last several
years, I'd be constantly interfered with, even if just passing
routine traffic. There are several clubs in the central Arkansas
area, but for years, there's petty bickering between each other,

$15.00 in case of emergencies. That is the closest I will ever get to HAM, although we
do have a Ham Radio club in our community. We are going to purchase the radio soon.
It would be a great thing to have, as well as the battery-operated radio which we
already have.

I can see why you are so into HAM, living where you do. Have you had to use it for
emergencies? I guess the answer would be a resounding YES.

I thought those model railroad layouts just ran with a transformer, etc.,
around a layout. I didn't think they were radio controlled.

Back in the fall of 2009, when my late Mom and I went out to San Diego,
California, on Amtrak...for the Clive Cussler Collectors Society (CCCS)
Convention that year, one of my side trips (while my Mom was at the CCCS),
was visiting Balboa Park, and the huge model railroad layout they had there.
It was impressive to say the least...which is the case for most of these
large model railroad layouts that I've seen. You can tell that meticulous
detail and work goes into it. Some places sell items of every sort for the
layout, and there are other places to buy locomotives and rolling stock.

This proves that ANY hobby, can get very expensive in a hurry!!

I got a neat all-in-one charger that will charge/test/discharge a whole slew of RC batteries. Kinda fun!

I also picked up a TANK (something I had always wanted since I was a kid) that shoots plastic BBs. It was fun but only lasted 2 battery cycles and the place I got it from (online Amazon) doesn't support it, so I will have to tear it apartand find out what happened. It actually acts like it lost TX/RX comms but there is no PAIR feature.
