Big thanks to both Bucko and JaXon - Bucko told me months ago about the GMail App Passwords, but I wasn't able to figure it out - or find it;
No problem at all!!! To be honest, it's not just BBS' that need to use this, apps like Thunderbird, and some older versions of Outlook need it too..
You know - I've never used Thunderbird, or any client really, on
Linux... but that makes sense; shame on Google for burying it so far underground.
I have been trying to move everything to Debian, so I played with Thunderbird to see how it would play out for me, just trying to get
gmail going was a joke. I haven't touched it since. LOL You are right Google is burying it because they don't want people to find it and use said programs..

Much as I hate to admit it, gmail's web experience is superior to any standalone app experience I've used so they've won me over in that
regard. Naturally offline messages aren't a thing but that has not been
an issue for me at all so I guess it's moot :/
Same reason that for years I've just used the web gmail - it works just fine, but doesn't offer the portability and privacy that a client
gives...
JaXon's recent how-to got me 99% of the way there, however on the
Security page there was no 'App Passwords' section at the bottom... I
