• My current Pi haps:

From paulie420@1337:3/129 to All on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 05:21:18
I'm currently doing two things with the pi...

Simple old-skool music visualization project using colored LEDs - I went
Winamp in 2o2o; I'll post a video when I'm done. Lots of python options for scenes... and dialing in an impressive LED setup.

    I have a Beitian BN-880 GPS & Compass chipset, but I don't have a project
idea for it... I could create a 'wheres the sysop' command on my bbs... I
    could create an emergency compass/map w/ android & a pi screen/case... or;
what would you do with a GPS/compass module? I'm hunting for neat ideas. :P

These sound like cool ideas, I know that Deon is very much a Pi enthusiast
and sure he will be getting all excited to see this =)

I have seen some people use Pi's for in-car gadgetry, such as connecting to
the cambus to get all the tacho/speedo data, you could also make it some sort of navigation and maybe even entertainment system. The GPS could also double
as a sort of car tracker or something.

I'm currently doing two things with the pi...

I'm probably doing a little too much on my 3B+!

I run docker - and so it has:

2 Synchronet instances - one being my main BBS that I used to read/mail, and the other being my Videotex environment. (They both appear as a single 10 node instance of Synchronet.)

2 Fidohub instances - where my fidohub is binkp/hpt and jamnntp. One instance is the main hub for many networks, and the other I use for testing - so that I can test things before I put it on the main hub.

A gitlab runner, that compiles stuff for arm as I commit it to gitlab (mostly Synchronet, which takes an hour, or the fidohub).

And anything else I'm playing with!

... Distrust your first impressions; they are invariably too favorable.

    These sound pretty cool.

I bought a RetroPi case for one of my 3B's that I have, and installed RetroPi on it to re-live my teens.

I tell everybody I bought it for my son - but we all know that's not the truth!

I was reading somewhere, maybe FB, about your Videotex project... I don't
know much about what Videotex IS, but it looked interesting the way you
logged in with a device- and I am watching it. :P

I just started a Hyperion prohject, too, which is advanced smart LED coloring that matches your TVs (or computer, or any video feed) colors around the perimeter... not just static colors anymore. :P

Also, PiHat just released their $99 you-supply-all product that looks really nice! (Previously it was $299 that came with the pi and everything - but the price was too much!) It had an OLED screen that can be scripted to display
all types of Pi info... a built-in battery, cooling and other cool stuff... I might have to order one for $99. Computer on the go.

Yea - I have a pretty substantial 64GB retropie install. :P I want to put together one of those badass arcade joystick builds. You can create a big
huge 2player joystick setup that is just as badass as being in the arcade.
The Pi will certainly fit INSIDE of the setup and would make for a really
    cool RetroPie setup.
