i have a raspberry pi4 /2gb and have added a msata to usb3 adapter
holding a 256gb ssd. it is connected via powered usb3 hub to the
usb3 port of the raspberry pi4.
still ssd freezes on bigger file reads

well, it seems there are adapters out there that dont work well with
USB3 UAS on Raspberry Pi4. what a pity! :( The link above has a fix.
but the fix will slow down the SSD. No UAS anymore.
I recently rebuilt my server using two Pi4s (1 active, 1 cold stand

I actually have 4 hard drives connected to a USB3 hub for this

Note that I used a "RAID -1" (i.e. two of the drives are active,
the other 2 are rsync backups of the active drives).
