You can try to fix (or delete) your jam base which has obviously been broken all the time, download the latest golded from http://download.golded.org/os2/, and then finally start using squish instead of jam. :)

I use the same GED/2 under the same OS/2, but Tosser under FE/2 and Jam... so far no problems ;-)

I have never used Squish before... what should I be aware of? How do I define the areas in HPT?

Back in 2004 there was a hptsqfix util. If there is one today too then you could backup the effected jam files and give it a try.

Oh, wait. First check if fastecho/2 can do that job too.

Correct, no JAM problems with Fastecho, ever. :)

Just replace "-b jam" with "-b squish".

    I had done so.

I had the same problem with hptutil corrupting message bases when linking & packing with that utility. Instead I link with 'hpt link -j' and pack with 'sqpack "*"' (despite the name, sqpack can pack both jam & squish message bases).

I'm unsure what you are trying to sort (I usually leave things unsorted
so the messages are displayed in the order they are received).

I don't sort messages either. I've noticed that I'll sometimes receive a reply before receiving the original message, but not often. Like Nick, I'll just display messages in the order they're received.
