• Nodelisting an IPV6 node...

From Kurt Weiske@1:218/700 to All on Thursday, November 21, 2019 21:40:37

I have my first IPV6 node in my region. How do I list an IPv6 address in the nodelist? The sysop has an IPV4 and IPV6 address...

    D:\Fido>host brorabbit.g0x.ru

    brorabbit.g0x.ru has address 85.91.194.238
    brorabbit.g0x.ru has address 85.91.194.238
    brorabbit.g0x.ru has IPv6 address 2001:470:dcd0:0:f1d0:2:460:58

    You need AAA record...

    Have a nice night.

If the sysop has IPv4 and IPv6 then simply add an A and AAAA record to the FQDN
    in DNS.

    congratulations.

How do I list an IPv6 address in the nodelist? The sysop has an IPV4
    and IPV6 address...

Although one can have literal IPv6 adresses in the mnodelist, the normal procedure is to communicate the IP number by listing a host name. just like with IPv4. If the node supports both IPv4 and IPv4, the NC (you) does not have to do anything. It is the keeper of the DNS zone of the host name - usually the
sysop of the node in question - that has to add an AAAA record to the host name.

What is the node number of the node in question? (So that I can test it).

    Cheers, Michiel

The best way is to publish a hostname that resolves to both A and AAAA.

Easiest way is to use a hostname and have A and AAAA records pointing to the relevant IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.
