    You've forgotten, that's one of the reasons Dummer beat me, when I read that passage in Std 5.

    You've forgotten, that's one of the reasons Dummer beat me, when I read that passage in Std 5.

    Corporal punishment. Teachers wouldn't get away with that anymore. I wrote a racey poem about opening Christmas presents and read it in front of the Gr 5 class. But at that time I used a thesaurus and the word I decided to use to describe ripping open wrapped presents was rape. It had to rhyme with "Santa was a rotten cheapskate.. delivered no presents for the kids to rape." I *do* remember getting a glaring look from the teacher, but I interpreted that as astonished praise for creative poetic license.

    LOL. My only equivalent anecdote about language was writing a poem for the school newsletter when I was in Grade 3 which included the phrase "piqued his interest"... not nearly as racy... The funniest thing a out it though was when I submitted it the teacher tried to "correct" my spelling,and when I objected vociferously, I got sent to the headmaster to be caned for being "cheeky". The fact that I was correct and she was wrong didn't matter at all.
