US negotiators now also have a personal stake in peace between Russia and Ukraine. They would then be able to strike a lucrative personal oil deal with Russia; after all, Lukoil assets are set to be sold to them once peace is established. The corruption is completely blatant. They make no attempt to hide it. Nor do they need to. They get away with everything in the US.

Trump finds it scandalous that his lawyer, Alina Habba, received 50 million for a pardon that he has now granted to the banker who made the payment. The reason he considers it scandalous will come as no surprise: he didn't get a cut of the money himself.
