The Democrats victory is all but complete

Only a few staunchly conservative states still voted Republican. Canada's countermeasures clearly haven't caused enough pain there yet.
I suspect Canada is quite prepared to inflict that pain after all.
What's remarkable is that Texas has now turned entirely Democratic. That won't sit well with the rednecks out in the countryside.
After January, the Democrats will be in a position to undo gerrymandering and push through significant reforms to ensure that future elections are conducted more fairly. After all, one shouldn't count on achieving such a massive victory very often.
The beauty of these Texas elections is that neither gerrymandering nor the vast sums of money poured into the Republican campaign by billionaires and major corporations were enough to save them. In Texas, at least, this is a victory for democracy!
From January onwards, Trump will only be able to govern through executive orders, seeking common ground with the Democrats would simply be too much work for him. I expect the Senate, in particular, to launch numerous investigations into the conduct of the Republicans. However, I hope they hold off on any prosecutions until a new president is in office, as the current leadership at the Department of Justice is serving Trump's interests rather than the people's. Removing those officials would be a sound move. Other cabinet members may also face impeachment proceedings; Hegseth is the most prominent candidate among them.
I anticipate that before he leaves office, whenever that may be, Trump will issue hundreds, if not thousands, of pardons. Consequently, those Republicans who broke the law will likely get away with it, unless, of course, Trump happens to meet an unexpected end.
