Our troops have been attacked in other countries. They were recently attacked by Iranians in Iraq (reuters.) The public in the USA wasn't outraged; they don't care, because it didn't happen here.
I think it depends on what part of the public. I care. You apparently do.
Many (D) voters may or may not care -- those that believe Joe Biden when
he claims that no military members have died on his watch probably don't
care.
The general public, who may be so tired of "news" might care if they were
even aware of it happening.
Now Ukraine has recently attacked Russians in Russia, and killed 5 civilians i
the process. That's different; 9 military members and 5 civilians died on thei
own turf. I expect that Putin will avenge their deaths, and I don't expect him
to blame himself for it.
That last sentence is probably correct, especially the very last bit. I
100% am certain he won't blame himself, even though he should.
