I've managed to get myself a fidonet node assigned (2:250/12) but during the process I seem to have messed up the passwords somehow as I now get the error:

evnt BINKPOLL BinkP got fatal error 'Bad password' from remote: 2:250/1@fidonet,2:250/10@fidonet,2:25/0@fidonet,2:250/0@fidonet,2:263/0@fidonet,2:25/999@fidonet,2:25/9999@fidonet

I'm not sure how to get the passwords changed as I can no longer send any netmail (I don't think) and I'm not sure who to ask?

Ask your hub. The password in question is your BinkP session password. In the old days, you'd phone them up, but today, you probably should have their Internet email address as a backup method of contacting them when things go wrong.

Are you using 2:250/1 in echocfg and your areas.bbs file? Or another one of his/her addresses?

Sometimes I've seen issues where I'll need to enter the password in echocfg
to the first AKA that matches.


2:250/1 is Vince Coen, he might be reachable other ways with a bit of googling/facebooking.

I thought that was probably the case - I'll try and wrangle my netmail back into some sort of working order and see if I can contact them.

My initial setup was based on your excellent youtube video and a lot of google searches for up to date nodelists and more than a little guesswork!
