    HI Folks;

Just getting back into BBS, after what seems
forever. I used to run all
    the
    usual suspects PCBoard, TBBS, RBBS,
    Renegade. I started up using
Mystic, which is not a bad program, however
    it is closed source, which
I am not in favour of. I found Synchronet
last week, and I haven't been
able to stop playing. Kudos to all,
    absolutely awesome program, head
    and shoulders above
    everything else!

Welcome! and thanks for the kind words.

Now dumb question time, where the heck does
    the Sysop menu originate
    from. I
have already change up the Renegade menu to
    Mystic, and added
    everything but
the kitchen sink into it, but I'd like to
add a few things to it. I
look forward to try and help the software. I
    have never used jscript, I
always found it a bit cryptic, ahem, fon't
talk to me about C lol.

exec/str_cmds.js is the source for all the
    string command (including
sysop-only commands). Let me know if that
    wasn't the answer you were
    seeking.

Also the actual text that's displayed when using
the ! main menu option is
    stored in /sbbs/text/menu/sysmain.asc

Great thank you for the pointers! Looks like I will
have to learn some Js. Baja is great but only does
so much. Without arrays or loops it's a bit
challenging. I was wondering how I could help. Maybe
I could work on the documentation, as it's very
dated and I know people hate to do it, lol.

    Thanks
    John

Thank you, no that was exactly the answer i was looking for. For now, maybe I will just create a srcond Sysop menu instead of messing the JS code, until I am up to snuff.

Just copy whatever you're working on from exec or exec/load into mods,
which will load locally, and worst case, you can remove the offending
file in mods... pretty much never edit anything under exec directly.

Thanks Tracker, I am just cleaning things up. So many files for a new Synchro user to get familiar with, but I think I got the hang of it now. Thanks for the tip!

    Regards,
    John
