• Viewing ARJ archives

From Retro Guy@1:103/705 to All on Thursday, January 09, 2025 13:14:09
I've added some viewers for some file types in Viewable Files and all seems to be working fine, until I try ARJ files.

I can view them fine from a command line with either arj or 7z (arj|7z l <filename>), but can not when configuring sbbs to do so.

The error I get is "Sorry, DOSEMU is not supported on this node." I'm running Debian Linux and don't use DOSEMU, but I don't think it would be required to display a file listing. (sbbs is 3.20a)

I thought maybe the output from 7z or arj was triggering something, so I wrote a small script in it's place and get exactly the same error (returning just a line of nothing important from my script and told no DOSEMU support).

Is sbbs producing this error based on the file being a .ARJ archive? Or am I missing something? I'm a bit confused at this point.

Thanks for any pointers in the right direction.

I'm not sure if this would be the solution, but do you have 7z and arj specified in SCFG > External Programs > Native Program List?

    That is the correct solution.

I do now and it works great. Thank you for the help!

I must have known this at one point in time as I see other programs I have added in the past :) Oh well, I get to learn the same thing twice!
