    I'm wondering if in this day and age it wouldn't be more advantageous to make
    a door server that would accept and process input from game clients.

    I had thought about just setting up a PHP script that processed messages from clients, I think this is how sunrise doors works.

    Doing it that way doesn't give control of hosting to the sysop though,
    so only the door maker can host the game. Unless of course they want to set up a php webserver.

    The door game author can release the door game server as well. That way different nets can each host a server.
