On 02/18/18, Dumas Walker said the following...
The affects of the magnitude of the quake depend on where you live. On the US West Coast, a 4.2 a few hundred miles away probably wouldn't be noticed. Where I live, a 4.2 that is 200-300 miles away will likely be noticed... at the very least, stuff will rattle.
Not knowing the geology of that area, I did not want to assume what
affect it might have had.
I am completely terrified about earthquakes. They are not common in
Brazil, although a few happen per year, but never bigger than 3.0 Richter,
and VERY far from where I live.
Here in Rio, it seems that the last quake was around a million years ago.
Whenever I travel to either Chile, Mexico, Colombia or Peru I wonder if
I will "catch" one... Have managed to "escape" so far.
