Well now my NFS needs some viagra :(
Good thing I ended up keeping a list of mods to the system too because all
I've managed to do is degrade it. Most of the tuning limitation is due to
the DOS client. XFS191.
It's only supporting NFS v2 so far as I can see. Its buffering options are nigh on non existant.P With only wsize and rsize values of upto 1280. I had these previously set at 1024, it seemed like a good number, and increasing
both to 1280 certainly seems to have put a spanner in the works. Latency appears much higher although throughput seems to be marginally improved.
Having reset all that to the previous 1024 amounts, the next realisation is that NFS v2 only runs over UDP not TCP. So I had to reset that on the server end although it seemed to be sorting that out for itself.
I've also gone through and undone all my added bonus items in /etc/sysctl.conf too, but whatever I've missed somewhere has left it quite choppy. When its in motion its pretty good, but has somewhat pregnant pauses for at this point no apparent reason.
