• Its a serial problem

From Spectre@21:3/101 to Nobody on Monday, April 20, 2020 17:50:00
I'm going to have to admit I've never had a lot of joy using the onboard
serial ports on any Pi I own. And it continues today, having gotten enough
of the table cleared off for the IIgs to make its comeback. I cannot get a link to the gs from the pi.

The weak link appears to be the converter/adapter TTL->RS232 has anyone got
a source for these that work reliably? I think I'm up to 3 or 4 different
ones from different sources at different times... in all that time I've only ever seen 1 work...

So the days job got about half way there... gs up and flying, my last pi
which doesn't have any usb ports so I have to get these serial ports working, and for the time being never the twain shall meet :/

PS: Ahhh have to make some noise amelioration efforts on the Sabretooth fan too. Hope the replacement doesn't take to long.

I thought the Pi uses 3.3V levels, rather than 5V TTL, which would

Well for the most part, they're meant to cope with 3.3 and 5V most require
+5V Vcc anyways... the pi will supply +3.3 or +5 via the gpio pins anyways.
But thats never helped at all. :/
