One thing you never mentioned was how to get it setup (have to get
it on a particular network). :)
Its actually quite easy. Most of it is just AT commands to set the SSID and the
encryption key. And as per the good ol days AT&W will save it. I think that was
it, been a while, but the AT commands are covered in the Software docs, what I used is list at
http://pineapple.zapto.org/projects
Generally the proto boards will have a serial input attached already, so you just need to plug it into a USB port to be able to set the software before use.
Only word of warning I would add is, unlike a modem thats instant on, these are
like melting blancmange getting started so sit tight and wait for a bit before you decided you did something wrong.
