Might pay to check just in case, in my youth it was one of the post tonsilectomy staples. Also used it once or twice when I've had other throat issues (like when #1 son gave me hand foot and mouth). Eggs generally are sterile, but it does depend on storage because the shells are actually permeable. You should normally try and store eggs in a clean dry location
with some air movement in an open basket kind of arrangement. Or if you
prefer the fridge.
